Wood Floor Repairs
Board and block replacement, squeak fixes and structural repairs for wooden floors in Kingston. Matched timber, careful joinery and a finish that blends in.
Wood floor repairs done properly
Most wooden floors that look tired or broken can be saved. With the right timber, careful joinery and a well-matched finish, we repair the damaged areas and keep everything that is still sound. We work on period homes, modern apartments and busy public buildings across Kingston and the surrounding areas.
Repairs are often the first stage of a bigger project. Once the floor is sound, floor sanding takes everything back to fresh timber so new and old wood finish as one surface. If the floor only needs a refresh afterwards, a maintenance re-oil may be all it takes.
Our floor repair services
Every floor type needs a slightly different approach, so our repair work is split into three specialist services:
Parquet and block floor repairs - re-laying lifted blocks, replacing damaged ones with reclaimed timber and restoring the pattern.
Floorboards repairs - split, rotten or badly patched boards replaced with matched reclaimed pine, and loose boards secured to the joists.
Engineered & solid wood repairs - plank replacement, re-bonding lifted boards and dealing with movement or water damage.
Making repairs invisible
A repair is only successful if you cannot find it afterwards. We source reclaimed boards and blocks of the same species, width and age wherever possible, and match the grain direction and colour before anything is fixed down. If new wood has to be used, we tone it in with stains and oils so the repair blends with the rest of the room.
Common problems we fix
Squeaky or bouncy boards caused by loose fixings or worn joists
Loose parquet blocks and failed adhesive
Boards stained or warped by leaks and spills
Old service cut-outs, mismatched patches and filled holes
Deep scratches, burns and impact damage
Why floors get damaged
A repair only lasts if the cause has been dealt with. Lifting blocks often point to damp or failed adhesive, cupped boards to a leak or poor ventilation, and creaks to loose fixings or tired joists. We check moisture levels with a meter, look at the subfloor and explain what we find in plain English. If something needs a plumber or builder first, we will tell you honestly rather than cover it up.
Repair, then restore
A repaired floor can be left as it is, blended locally or fully refinished. Some customers add gap filling to cut draughts, or a stain to give the room a new look. Please note that gap filling is excluded from our service guarantee, because wooden floors move with the seasons and the structure of the building. Everything else comes with our three-month guarantee on restoration work.

Common questions
Can you match my existing floorboards?
In most cases. We use reclaimed timber of the same species and size wherever possible and tone it in during finishing.
Will the whole floor need refinishing?
Not always. Small repairs can sometimes be blended locally, but a full sand gives the most even result, especially on older floors.
Is it possible to stop floorboards creaking?
Yes. We locate the loose boards and re-fix them to the joists, often without lifting them.
How quickly can repairs be done?
Small repairs are typically finished in a day; larger areas take longer, and we confirm timings with your quote.
Damaged floor? We can fix it.
Tell us about the damage and we will recommend the simplest, longest-lasting repair.
Questions about Wood Floor Repairs
Are you insured?
We are fully insured with £5m public liability cover. Certificates are available on request, which schools, churches and landlords often need before work starts.
How should I prepare the room?
Empty the room where possible and take down curtains that reach the floor. If you need help with heavy pieces, let us know when booking. Our guide to preparing your home has more tips.
Do I need to move out while you work?
No. We work room by room, and most customers stay at home throughout. Our water-based lacquers and low-VOC oils have very little odour, so day-to-day life carries on.
Can you quote from photos?
Often, yes. Photos of the floor plus rough measurements let us give a guide price quickly. We confirm it with a short visit before work starts, so the final quote is fixed.
How are your prices worked out?
Prices depend on the floor area, condition, repairs needed and the finish you choose. Our price list shows typical starting prices, and the free survey gives you a fixed written quote.
Which areas do you cover?
Our team works across Kingston and the neighbouring towns and villages. If you are just outside the area, send us a message — we can usually help for larger jobs.
What our customers say
Very good parquet restoration
“The parquet in our dining room had several loose blocks and lots of bitumen. The result is excellent. The job ran over by a day because of extra repairs, but they talked us through it and kept the price fair.”
Coombe
Decking looks much better
“The deck looks warm and rich again. We had to rebook once because of rain, which is understandable, and they were flexible about the new date. Would use again.”
Surbiton
Great with our dogs around
“With two dogs, we needed a tough finish. They recommended a hard-wearing lacquer and it has held up brilliantly so far.”
