Engineered & Solid Floor Repairs
Damaged engineered and solid wood planks replaced, re-bonded and blended in Kingston.
Plank floor repairs done properly
Modern plank floors are tough, but a dropped pan, a leaking dishwasher or a heavy sofa dragged across the room can still leave serious damage. In most cases we can replace just the affected boards and blend them into the rest of the floor. This saves time, money and the disruption of a new floor.
Typical repairs
Cutting out and replacing damaged, dented or burnt planks
Fixing boards that have come away from the subfloor
Dealing with cupping and swelling after leaks
Closing gaps caused by movement and fixing failed joints
Knowing your floor
Engineered boards have a real wood wear layer on a plywood core, while solid boards are timber all the way through. Knowing which you have tells us how to repair it and how much sanding the floor can take. Our article on sanding engineered floors shows you how to check.
Blending the repair
Even the same product changes colour as it ages. Depending on the floor, we blend the repair locally or carry out a full solid wood restoration so the whole room is even. Oiled floors may only need a re-oil after the repair.
Dealing with water damage
Leaking appliances, overflowing baths and wet boots by the door all take their toll. Damp boards swell and cup, and water stains often go right through the wear layer. We check the moisture levels, let the floor dry properly and then decide whether the boards can be flattened by sanding or need replacing. Patience at this stage avoids repeat problems later.
Floating, glued and nailed floors
Floating floors click or glue together over an underlay, glued floors are bonded to the subfloor and nailed floors are secret-fixed to battens or joists. We adapt our approach to the way your floor was fitted, so replacement boards sit flush and stay put. Leftover boards from the original installation make the best repairs, so let us know if you have any.

Questions about engineered & solid floor repairs
Will sanding wear my solid floor out?
Solid timber floors can be sanded again and again. Each sand removes only a fraction of a millimetre when done properly, so a well-kept floor will last generations.
How are your prices worked out?
Prices depend on the floor area, condition, repairs needed and the finish you choose. Our price list shows typical starting prices, and the free survey gives you a fixed written quote.
Can you repair a water-damaged floor?
In many cases. Light marks often sand away, while badly swollen or stained boards are replaced and blended in. The floor must be fully dry first, so we may check moisture levels before starting.
Can you quote from photos?
Often, yes. Photos of the floor plus rough measurements let us give a guide price quickly. We confirm it with a short visit before work starts, so the final quote is fixed.
Will repairs stand out?
We match the species, width and age of your boards wherever possible. After sanding and finishing the whole area, repairs are very hard to spot. Learn more about wood floor repairs.
Can you sand an engineered wood floor?
Usually, if the wear layer is at least 3 mm thick. We check the wear layer during the free survey, often by lifting a threshold strip or a floor vent. Our guide to sanding engineered floors explains more.
What our customers say
Very good parquet restoration
“The parquet in our dining room had several loose blocks and lots of bitumen. The result is excellent. The job ran over by a day because of extra repairs, but they talked us through it and kept the price fair.”
Coombe
Decking looks much better
“The deck looks warm and rich again. We had to rebook once because of rain, which is understandable, and they were flexible about the new date. Would use again.”
Surbiton
Great with our dogs around
“With two dogs, we needed a tough finish. They recommended a hard-wearing lacquer and it has held up brilliantly so far.”
