Restoration Services for Public Spaces
Floor sanding, repairs and maintenance for schools, churches, community halls and offices in Kingston, planned around your timetable.
Restoring floors in schools, churches and offices
Sports halls, church halls and busy offices see thousands of footsteps every week. Done well, a sanded and properly finished wooden floor lasts for decades and looks better than any replacement. Our Kingston team restores floors for schools, churches, community halls and offices, and we plan every job around the way your building is used.
Sectors we cover
Schools and academies - sports halls, assembly halls and classrooms, sanded and finished during holidays.
Churches & community halls - careful restoration of old parquet and boards, planned around services and hall hire.
Offices - sanding and re-coating out of hours or at weekends, so your business keeps running.
Minimal disruption
Every building has its own pressures: term times, services, bookings or working hours. Work can be phased room by room, done out of hours, or completed over a holiday so the building is ready when you need it. Dust-free sanding and low-odour water-based finishes mean the rest of the building can usually stay open.
Compliance you can rely on
Public buildings need the right paperwork, and we provide it as standard. Before any job we supply risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and we can send copies of our £5m public liability insurance certificate. Our team is experienced in working safely in occupied buildings.
Floors for sport and activity
Sports hall floors need a finish that is hardwearing, easy to clean and safe to play on. We use specialist sports lacquers with appropriate slip resistance, and re-apply badminton, netball, basketball and other court markings between coats. The result is a floor that looks sharp, performs well and stands up to years of use. We can also advise on cleaning regimes for caretaking and cleaning teams.
The case for restoration
Much cheaper than a replacement floor
Keeps original, high-quality timber and the character of the building
Less waste and a lower environmental impact
Faster turnaround, often within a holiday period
Maintenance plans for public buildings
A restored floor lasts much longer with a simple maintenance plan. A light re-coat every year or two, timed for quieter periods, keeps busy floors protected and avoids the cost of a full sand. We also advise caretakers and cleaning teams on the right products and routines, and recommend entrance matting to stop grit reaching the floor. Many of our school and church clients have been with us for years.
We begin with a free survey and give you a fixed price and timetable. You can see typical costs on our prices page, though larger buildings are always quoted individually.
Our services for public buildings
A typical project includes repairs to damaged areas followed by full sanding and refinishing. Between full restorations, lacquer re-coating keeps busy floors protected for a fraction of the cost. Our projects page shows some of the halls and public buildings we have worked on.

Common questions
Can you work during school holidays?

Can you supply risk assessments?
Yes. We provide risk assessments, method statements and a copy of our £5m public liability insurance for every project.
Can you re-apply sports court markings?
Yes - markings are applied between coats so they are sealed under the final lacquer.

Questions about Public Spaces
Can you restore a church or community hall floor?
We have restored many church and community hall floors. We treat older floors with care and choose finishes suited to busy halls. See churches and community halls.
Can you sand office floors out of hours?
We can work evenings, nights and weekends so the office stays open. Our dust-free machines and water-based lacquers mean minimal disruption to your team.
Do you do court lines on hall floors?
Yes. After sanding we apply a slip-resistant sports lacquer and can repaint court markings for badminton, netball and other games between coats so they are sealed in. Read more about our school floor restoration.
Can you supply RAMS for our site?
We provide risk assessments, method statements and insurance details before work begins. Our team is used to working on occupied sites with strict safety rules.
Can the work fit around term times?
We regularly work during holidays, evenings and weekends. Most halls are finished in a few days, so disruption is kept to a minimum.
Do you need electricity and water?
A normal plug socket and parking close by is all we need. Our machines run on domestic power, and we bring all tools, materials and dust sheets.
What our customers say
Very good parquet restoration
“The parquet in our dining room had several loose blocks and lots of bitumen. The result is excellent. The job ran over by a day because of extra repairs, but they talked us through it and kept the price fair.”
Coombe
Decking looks much better
“The deck looks warm and rich again. We had to rebook once because of rain, which is understandable, and they were flexible about the new date. Would use again.”
Surbiton
Great with our dogs around
“With two dogs, we needed a tough finish. They recommended a hard-wearing lacquer and it has held up brilliantly so far.”
